The butcher block booklets have been made after a marathon day of biking between paper stores in downtown Oakland, printers in west Berkeley and the wood shop in North Oakland. I think I put about 22 miles on my wheels just getting this “little” project done today. But in between missions I got to stop for some coffee and scones at Cheeseboard, a slice of Pizza at Sliver and a hang-out session with my dress making friend and her seamstresses around the corner from my shop. Life is good living and working in Oakland.
This little booklet discusses the product’s design, explains the advantages of end grain cutting boards over conventional cutting boards and finally details maintenance and cleaning procedures.
Tomorrow I will apply a mineral oil and beeswax finish to the boards and install the embossed brass plugs. After wrapping each end grain butcher block up with one of these booklets the boards will be ready for the shelf in some lucky ;) local stores. Check back for some product photos in the next few days.
